CR-Fashionbook issue 9 is now on stands. The Marie Antoinette theme pays due homage to history's most controversial and misunderstood heroine. Of course, this issue would not have Carine Roitfeld's backing if the imagery and fashion were not as opulent and thoughtful as the halls of Versailles.
The theme and choice of bad gal Rihanna as the cover model speaks to Roitfeld's thoughts on contemporary feminism. "I wanted to show that she is not just a villain to be despised or a muse to be channeled... She is neither actually. She is a prototype for contemporary fame, body, beauty, celebrity, and femininity. Everything done by her and to her has influenced society's concept of womanhood for better or worse." Roitfeld is quoted saying.
CR Fashionbook has taken a time in history and brilliantly modernized it while staying true to the essence of women's style, beauty, aura and strength. We are delighted to have worked with Sebastian Faena and his images of Lara Stone and to ultimately be apart of this issue that celebrates powerful women.
